What the Funk started in summer of 2013, with the aim of bringing something a little different to the Brighton choir scene. 

Founded by Gary Whalen, of Brighton School of Singing, the choir's members were brought together by a common love of singing. Many members had tried out different choirs across the city, but they didn't feel at home until they found What the Funk. 

The choir meets every Wednesday evening, 7.30pm - 9.30pm for rehearsals at the Voice Hut in Woodingdean; a fully decked out space with performance area and even a recording studio!

The group performed it's first gig the Sallis Benney theatre in December last year and is currently making plans for it's Spring and Summer performances. Check out our set list tab to see what we've got in store!
